Starting Out

Video game consoles have been around for  a very long time. The gaming industry has had a long history of creating a fun environment for        people to get away from everyday life and explore a new world. Growing up I always loved video games. The first game I ever played was crash bandicoot on a Gameboy. Playing games has made me who I am today and allowed me to meet some amazing people throughout the years. This report will detail the inner workings of gaming devices that have made a significant impact on the gaming industry as well as how they started and evolved into what they are today. Although there are many benefits of new age consoles such as faster processing, graphical improvements, and being able to play with friends there are some downsides that include getting away from nostalgia, interface changes and cross compatibility.

Magnavox Odyssey 1972

The very first video game console created was the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972 which was created by Ralph H. Baer.
This console was the first of its kind in the space of gaming and came with other items such as cards, dice , and paper money. This was just the beginning for the gaming industry as  a whole. The second big step for video games was the creation of the Atari 2600 in 1987. This was a major deal due to it being the first console to accept game cartridges. Previous consoles only had built in games. This device became extremely popular and introduced fan favorites such as pac-man and frogger.
