One of the best features that people say accompany the newer consoles is the ability to connect with friends online. Previously people would have to have the person

they wanted to play the game with in the exact same room with them. But with the PlayStation you can add your friends online and play with them from anywhere in the world. You can even communicate with them while online via chat or with a microphone.

Processors

The processors on the PlayStation are some of the fastest that any new age console has. A good processor will allow your console or device to run games fast and can help keep the frame rate up while playing games. The greater the processor the better the better your games and your console will run. Previous consoles couldn't handle and didnt have these types of processors.

Graphical Improvements

Another feature is that the PlayStation has better graphics. The old consoles would have bad pixelated graphics. The screens would have to be manually manipulated by the person playing the game. Now the console has 4k resolution and uses ray tracing to give a clear picture to make games look as though they are life-like.

The Bad 

Nostalgia

The problem with many new age consoles is that they forget where they started and get away from their nostalgic feel. Although the PlayStation controller is better in many ways then the old one some fans of the console prefer the older controllers due there design and slimmer look. The new controller at times can feel heavy and bulky. Stepping away from what made your fans like your product while remaining new and innovative is a problem for many console developers.

 

Interface Changes

The home interface is a vital part to a gaming experience. The home interface is the first thing you see when you load up the console and should be easy to navigate. While trying to make the interface better developers inadvertently made the interface harder to navigate in the long run. Before texting your friend from the console was easy but now there are extra steps you must go through for no reason at all.

Cross Compatibility

Being able to play older games on the newer console used to be possible but now it is a hassle. There is no way to enter an older gaming disc and load up the games that you once loved by the same company. The only way to play older games on your newer console is by streaming the game online which has its own issues. Due to the console being so advanced it cant handle older games. Although Xbox does have a feature where you can put in old discs and play them PlayStation does not.
